Exquisite Corpse Web Screening - Thursday 29th April 2021 @7PM
In collaboration with Kaunas 2022 and Galway 2020 EU Capitals of culture
Join us on Thursday 29 April at 7pm for this special online event – a once off projection of unseen footage gathered from Galway’s past and Kaunas, Lithuania’s present. Super 8 Shots “Wonder Years” will give you a glimpse into rare never seen before 8mm and 16mm digitally remastered amateur footage from Galway and Ireland dating back to the 1950s, 60s and 70s, with an original piano soundtrack composed by Galway based composer Julien Dorgere for this project.
“Wonder Years” will be shown along with newly shot Super8 film footage from Kaunas as part of “Exquisite Corpse”, a special collaboration with Kaunas 2022 European Capital of Culture.
Exquisite Corpse is the fruit of Julien Dorgere (Super8 Ireland), Emilija Jefremova (EMJ Camera) and artist Aideen Barry (commissioned by Kaunas). This complimentary film project partners with Aideen Barry’s own Kaunas 2022 project, who is currently making an art film in Lithuania on Modernism and hidden histories entitled, Klostės (Folds /Pleats), see www.klostes.com
Online Super8 Film workshops with Kaunas based artists and aspiring filmmakers in late 2020 culminated in a collaborative film project that was edited for this live streaming event.
A truly European project with Super8 cine film cameras and filmstock sent from Ireland to Lithunia, processed in Berlin and Scanned + Edited in Galway city, the Kaunas 2022/Galway2020/Super8 Shots collaboration is filmmakers’ dream come true.
This unique combination of footage from two European Capitals of Culture promises to be an event not to be missed.
DIGITALLY REMASTERED FILMS
The archival footage featured in the Wonder Years program has been fully digitally remastered thanks to Super8 Ireland’s unique Galway facility for 8mm, super8 and 16mm Films
WE love shooting super8 film
Super8 cine film comes from the 60's. This vintage format has a distinctively retro feel with a wonderful grain only film can achieve. But you can still shoot Kodak Super8 film today…
